Project Name: Using iPads to support reading comprehension for English Learners
Team members: Maureen O'Brien, Daria Hendrickson, Stephanie Burnes
Action Research Overview:

Action Research Cycle:

Timeline (implementation plan and progress, continue to update):

April
May
June
July
September
October
November
December

Meet and discuss what reading
levels to purchase

Get approval to purchase apps
from the Principal

Set up a schedule for sharing
iPads among 3 ESL teachers
Attend iPad PD with Jill
Bromenshenkel

Begin using iPads
with reading groups

Try using different apps
with students in addition
to the reading app.

Look for possible ways
to use iPads with ELs in social
studies.
Change action research
because ESLteachers are
not supporting ELs during
guided reading in 2012-2013
(MPLS Multilingual department
framework). Also, ESL teachers
moved to different rooms and it
became very hard to share iPads.
The iPads were split among ESL
teachers.
